I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that student loan debt is one of the biggest issues facing young people in the US. Not only are the figures staggering, but the debt seems to be stifling the progress of Millennials to live a normal adult. Some, even putting off buying homes and starting families in order to pay down their debt first. That was not the case for our guest today.
Today, we’re sitting down with Ty from Debt Ascent to hear all about the debt-free journey he tackled along with his wife after graduating school.
I must warn you though, this is no ordinary debt-free story. At the height of their student loan debt, Ty and his wife owed more than half a million dollars for their education. Interestingly, they had a different viewpoint than most people. They signed up for the debt with eyes wide open when applying to dental school and an engineering graduate program.
They knew what it would cost, but they also knew how much they would eventually earn. Armed with that knowledge, Ty and his wife made a plan to take on the debt and then tackle it with a vengeance.
