DIY Home Renovations You Can Do On The Cheap (Part 1)

January 13, 2020

We bought it for a discount because it had major issues and needed a complete makeover. Since we settled, we’ve been working nonstop at making it the home we want to live in! In Part 1 of this video series, I’m doing a deep dive into all the DIY home renovations we’ve accomplished since moving in last August.

Instead of typing everything out this week, I thought I’d actually try my hand at recording a video and give you an actual tour of the house! Check it out below!

If you prefer to watch it via YouTube, go ahead and hop over there using this link. Also, I’d love it if you hit SUBSCRIBE! There will be lots more videos to come!

  • That chandelier looks so much better than the old one. Is there a cost/durability reason you picked different materials over other ones like the vinyl flooring over hard wood or ceramic tile?

    • Thank you! As far as your other question, yes, we definitely liked the cost of the luxury vinyl tile over actual tile, but that’s not the whole story. We put real porcelain tile in our last home and, although, I LOVED the look, it was super expensive. However, more than the cost, it was very difficult to keep the grout lines clean due to our large dogs. Muddy paws just did a number on the grout. Even though it was sealed, I still had to scrub it every few months to get it looking new again. That was quite a task and exhausting. This time, we chose to go with LVT without grout. So far so good but I do miss the look of my real porcelain tile. Also, we won’t consider hardwood because of our large dogs and their tendency to scratch floors (unintentionally) and drool like crazy after getting a drink of water. 🙂
