If you’re anything like me, your time is limited and quite precious. I know I don’t like wasting time reading books that don’t add value to my life, and I’m sure you don’t, either. And because of this insider information I just happen to have, I went ahead and compiled a list of 11 must-read books that have the potential to make a big difference in your financial future. Whether you’re already blazing a path toward financial independence or you’re just starting to eliminate debt and take control of your money, there’s something on this list for you!

So without making you wait any longer, here are a few must-read books that’ll make you a financial rock star!

1. The Simple Path To Wealth

This book started as a series of letters, JL Collins wrote to his daughter to teach her about money and investing. When he decided to publish those letters on the internet to share with family and friends, the world took notice.

Enjoy this easy-to-understand, yet in-depth read that covers everything from avoiding debt, establishing F-U money, and how to invest in bull and bear markets.

2. Meet The Frugalwoods

In this book, Mrs. Frugalwoods (as she’s known on her blog, Frugalwoods) tells us all about how she and her husband embraced frugality to escape urban life and professional jobs to chase their dreams of becoming financially independent and living on a homestead in Vermont.

Spoiler: They did it!

3. I Will Teach You To Be Rich

This book is aimed at teaching young adults (read: Millennials) all about the four pillars of personal finance – banking, saving, budgeting, and investing/wealth-building. And it’s all done in a non-judgmental way and outlined in a 6-week program.

The best part: It’s a book with a reputation for inspiring its readers to actually take action!

4. Broke Millennial

#GYFLT! That stands for Get Your Financial Life Together and that’s exactly what is outlined in this book by Erin Lowry over at the personal finance blog, Broke Millennial. She aims her advice at broke 20 and 30-something-year-olds that are just scraping by.

If this sounds like you, check this book out for a step-by-step guide to go from broke to no financial joke!

5. Make Your Kid A Money Genius (Even If You’re Not)

Great news, parents! You don’t have to be a money genius to make your kid one. This guide helps parents teach their 3 – 23-year-old children how to master their money.

It’s a shame our parents didn’t have this when we were kids!

6. Who Moved My Cheese?

This little book packs a powerful punch using a simple parable about a mouse in a maze looking for his cheese. Change is inevitable. How we deal with it is personal. This book will help you adjust your outlook when it comes to change in any area of your life – work, home, relationships, or money.

7. The Millionaire Next Door

You know that couple a few doors down that live in the small rancher and drive those old cars? The same couple you saw walking into the thrift store the other week? Yeah, that couple. Well, did you know they’re millionaires? Never judge a book by its covers.

In The Millionaire Next Door, you’re reminded of the profound impact living below your means, staying married, and not moving to a bigger house can have on your finances.

8. The Automatic Millionaire

If you hate spending time thinking about money and the balances of your investments, this book is for you. The Automatic Millionaire walks you through how to set up a financial plan in about an hour that will serve to make you an automatic millionaire. Set it and forget it!

  • This is a good list. I’ve already read a few of these. One book that I’m particularly fond of is Millionaire Teacher, The 9 Rules of Wealth you Didn’t Learn in School.

  • John Bogle’s The Little Book Of Common Sense Investing. The only book you need on investing. I like your others, too.
